It’s beautiful to admire Lagoa do Fogo from the viewpoint, but going down to the lake is even better! Of all the half-day hikes, this is definitely one you shouldn’t miss. A lot of people stop at the viewpoint to take in the stunning view, but we can assure you — it’s well worth the descent to the beach. Even better is enjoying a picnic by the lake, surrounded by the unique setting of a volcanic crater.
Lagoa do Fogo feels even more impressive when you’re standing at its shore.
The peaceful silence of nature is absolutely enchanting.

With a total length of 11 km, this hike is considered moderate due to the uphill and downhill sections leading to Lagoa do Fogo — but it’s well worth the effort and truly unforgettable!
It includes a visit to the Miradouro do Pisão viewpoint, and at the end of the trail, you can stop at Água d’Alto beach or in Caloura for a refreshing swim in the ocean.
